Private gift kicks off fundraising for the Pre-Professional Advising Center

UL Lafayette alumni Drs. Roderick and Tina Clark created the Drs. Roderick & Tina Clark/BoRSF Endowed Professorship in the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences for the Pre-Professional Advising Center to aid in their mission of establishing a student-advising center on campus. The Clarks have always had a deep cultural connection to the Acadiana area.  So deep that after medical school, they decided to settle in Lafayette and have been practicing medicine locally ever since. Roderick is a nephrologist and Tina is the associate program director for the Department of Internal Medicine at University Hospital & Clinics. Creating a professorship that will be awarded by the Dean of the College of Sciences to a faculty member who best fits the mission of advancing the mission of the Pre-Professional Advising Center is the first step in the creation of the center. Additional fundraising efforts are underway for the initiative, and once completed, it will provide students with professional advisors, undergraduate research awards, peer advisors, and access to health professionals who will serve as mentors – all necessary resources for students interested in attending professional schools and programs in the medical field.
