University Annual Fund

The University Annual Fund supports the greatest needs of the University community including student recruitment, retention and sustainability initiatives.

Gifts to the University Annual Fund make an immediate impact and create flexibility to address needs across the campus community including:

Student Recruitment & Retention

  • Increase student enrollment, retention and graduation rates
  • Cultivate, engage and recruit students to nurture their academic interests and help them achieve their goals

Sustainability – Campus as a Living Lab

Utilizing campus grounds, facilities and operational systems for interdisciplinary project-based learning, applied research and hands-on partnerships, the Campus as a Living Lab will prepare tomorrow's leaders and develop innovative solutions to sustainability challenges. Priorities for 2020-2021 include:

Campus Community Garden & Small-Scale Compost Project

  • In partnership with UL Lafayette Dining Services, the Garden will be a living laboratory for teaching about personal health, soil science, botany, the role of bees and insects in pollination, agricultural science, nutrition, circular food systems, zero waste, math, physics, and chemistry.
  • Food scraps from dining services will be brought to the garden to create a small scale, turn-pile compost project that will both reduce waste from the food services and provide healthy compost soil for the gardens. This will also provide learning opportunities for volunteers and visitors about the environmental benefits of using natural compost for fertilizer.

Sustainability Seed Funds

Seed funding to projects that support the ADVANCE program and/or graduate research that aims to increase student productivity and success through engagement in mentored research, innovative projects, and creative endeavors. Projects should demonstrate the interrelated nature of sustainability challenges and solutions.ampus Building Energy and Waste Audit

  • Reduce monthly energy bills
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Sustainability Faculty Fellows Stipends

The UL Lafayette Sustainability Faculty Fellows program:

  • Builds a community of faculty and researchers dedicated to exploring issues of sustainability from the local to global scale, service-learning and community building, and multidisciplinary problem solving
  • Supports faculty in developing new sustainability course offerings, and/or redeveloping existing courses to include sustainability principles
